BALLINDALLOCH ESTATE
Farming
Aberdeen AngusOn the Ballindalloch Estate, farming and Aberdeen Angus go hand in hand.

In the 1860s, the 3rd Baronet, Sir George Macpherson-Grant, was instrumental in developing the breed. Descendants of the original Ballindalloch stock still remain among the current herd, which is now the oldest surviving herd in the world. David Johnstone is our stockman.

The Ballindalloch Doocot is dated 1696 and contains 844 stone nesting boxes.In-hand farming at Ballindalloch has expanded in recent years and at present the farmland is worked by two admirable and efficient local contractors. The land provides fodder and grazing for the Aberdeen Angus and seasonal grazing for other local farmers.

We have nine units farmed by tenants on statutory agricultural tenancies.
